Historic Legacy

Centuries of Educational Excellence in Chamba

Government Senior Secondary School Raipur is situated in Raipur village in the Bhattiyat tehsil of Chamba district lies in the Shivalik hill range (specifically near the foot of the ridge extending towards Chakki Khadd, south of the Dhauladhar range).

Beginning in 1921 as a primary school, it was upgraded to a middle school in 1952, high school in 1972, and senior secondary school in 1998. The institution offers specialized senior secondary faculties in Arts (51 students), Science (18 students), and Commerce (16 students), as well as dedicated vocational streams under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF).

1. Knowledge Hub

Library (Digital Library)

A well-established library with excellent seating arrangements and a collection of over 6,000 books. Books can be borrowed for 30 days (late fee of ₹1/day thereafter). The library provides the daily Hindi newspaper Divya Himachal, weekly newspaper Giriraj, and two monthly magazines. Upgrading soon to a full digital library equipped with computers and tablets.

2. Digital Literacy

ICT Lab (I.C.T Lab)

Fully equipped ICT lab facility featuring networked computer systems. Both students and teachers utilize the lab for computer education, syllabus requirements, and practical digital learning sessions.

3. Audio-Visual

Smart Classrooms

2 smart classrooms with smart display units/cans available, equipping teachers with modern audio-visual instructional technology and direct high-speed internet access. All classrooms are being upgraded into smart classrooms under the PM Shri Yojana.

Sports

A proud sports heritage with students winning medals at block, district, and state levels in Badminton, Kabaddi, and Kho-Kho. Enthusiastic training and participation are also expanding in Wrestling, Kurash, and Judo.

5. Youth Leadership

N.S.S. (National Service Scheme)

Instilling leadership, social service, collective responsibility, and the dignity of labor. The school has a full NSS contingent. 1 volunteer was selected for the state-level Republic Day parade in 2023-24, and 2 volunteers were selected in 2024-25.

Mayur Eco Club

Formed under the National Green Corps. Students lead tree planting, biodiversity education, and cleanliness drives. Awarded 1st prize at the state level in 2023-24 with an incentive grant of ₹25,000, and certified as a Clean School at the national level in 2024-25.

Vocational Education (NSQF)

  • School Uniform: All students must wear the designated school uniform neatly every day.
  • Identity Cards: Wearing the official student identity card provided by the school is mandatory.
  • Attendance: Students with continuous unexcused absence for 10 days or more will be struck off the school rolls. Regular absence fine applies per rules.
  • Mobile Phones Strictly Prohibited: Mobile phones are strictly banned on school premises. Violations result in disciplinary action and permanent confiscation for the academic year.
  • SMC Participation: Parents must actively participate in periodic School Management Committee (SMC) meetings.
